Simply put, the features the newer features in Metal 3.0 are greatly beneficial to performance compared to Metal 2.0. This is because of the lack of Metal 3.0 support in any macOS version below Catalina (10.15). As of now Parallels still claims better performance and more titles will be available in Catalina.*

As Hoserama pointed out this is probably also an issue with new code for the new graphics back end. \Edit* I found a recent post from someone asking as to why this is, according to a Parallels support technician it is because of faster shader compilation in Metal 3.0. MacOS Catalina (when released) is recommended for the best performance and required for some applications to run. Stated in the Parallels 15 ' Whats New' page: In fact, if you are coming from PD14 or below and are using macOS Mojave (10.14.x), you may experience worse performance playing your games. However, from my experience using Parallels 15 so far (applies for Mojave, not Catalina), there are still limitations to playing these DX11 games. Parallels 15 (PD15) introduced DX11 support on macOS, which previously was not possible. Gaming Performance (does not apply if using macOS 10.15 Catalina): Worse than Parallels 14, \currently.* I dare say it, and I am absolutely amazed by it, but frame rate is identical to bootcamp. It has gone from ~20FPS on low settings (Mojave and PD15) to ~45FPS on Remastered (Ultra) settings (Catalina and PD15). With Black Desert, the performance leap is absolutely enormous. I have upgraded to macOS Catalina, and have now played both Black Desert Online (unplayable in Mojave) and Fallout 4 (didn't test).
